Is there a hive in your wall?

The signs of an established hive

An established hive is a different job from a swarm. Beehive removal Melbourne wide, done properly, means the colony treated, the comb and honey cut out and the cavity sealed. Our bee hive removal service covers bees in wall removal, roof voids, eaves and bee removal chimney work, and every bee colony removal ends with the comb out, not left to rot.

  • Bees flying in and out of one gapA steady line of bees at a gap in a wall, eave or roof means a colony has moved in behind it.
  • A hum in the wall or ceilingYou can often hear a colony before you see it, especially on a warm afternoon.
  • A swarm hanging on a branch or fenceA cluster the size of a football. It is looking for a home, and your wall is on the list.
  • Honey stains or a sweet, waxy smellDark stains on a ceiling or wall point to comb and honey inside the cavity.
  • More bees every warm dayA new colony grows fast in spring and summer, and so does the comb inside.

Why it should not wait

A hive in the wall gets bigger every week

This is what we see when bees are left for a season, or sealed in.

A swarm moves into your wall

A swarm on a branch is looking for a home. Within hours to a couple of days it can be inside a wall or roof.

Comb and honey build up

An established colony fills the cavity with comb and honey. The longer it stays, the more there is to cut out.

Stains and smells if sealed in

Seal the gap with the bees inside and the colony dies, the honey melts and it seeps through the plaster.

Stings near doors and play areas

Bees defend a hive. Near a door, a path or where the kids play, that means stings, and a real risk for anyone allergic.

How it works

Four steps, and you know each one before it happens

No guesswork and no surprises. You get the price first and the paperwork at the end.

A can of spray or proper removal?

Why sealing or spraying does not remove a hive

Hardware store bee spray is the first thing most people try. It kills the bees it touches, but the colony, the comb and the honey stay where they are.

Bees or wasps?

Not sure if it is bees or wasps?

They are different jobs, so it helps to know. Honey bees are fuzzy and golden brown and build wax comb. European wasps are smooth, bright yellow and black, and build a grey paper nest. We remove both.

Questions

Beehive removal questions

How much does bee hive removal cost?

Bee hive removal Melbourne prices depend on where the hive is, how long it has been there and how much comb has to come out. We give you the price on the phone before we book, with no obligation. Book it for today and 10% comes off the job.

How long does beehive removal take?

A hive that is easy to reach can be treated and removed in one visit. A hive deep in a wall or a chimney usually takes two: one to treat the colony, and one to remove the comb and honey and seal the cavity once the bees are no longer active.

Is honey bee hive removal different from a swarm?

Yes. A swarm has no comb yet. Honey bee hive removal means the comb, the brood and the honey all have to come out after treatment, or they rot in the cavity.

Can you do bee removal from a chimney?

Yes. Bees in a chimney are almost always long established, so there is usually a lot of comb. We treat the colony, remove the comb we can reach and seal the way in.

Is there bee nest removal near me?

Yes. We are based in Bulleen and do bee nest removal Melbourne wide, plus Geelong and the Mornington Peninsula, 7 days a week. If you searched for bee hive removal near me, tell us your suburb and we give you a time and a price on the call.

Can you come today?

Most days, yes. Swarms are treated as urgent, and if you call in the morning there is a good chance we can be there that afternoon. If we cannot make it today we tell you on the call and give you the earliest time.

Do you keep the bees alive?

No. Pest Hunter is a pest control business, not a beekeeping service. We treat the colony and remove it. If you want the bees kept alive, a local beekeeping club is the right call, and we are happy to say so on the phone.

Why can I not just seal the hole?

Because the colony dies inside and the honey melts. It runs down the cavity, stains the plaster, smells, and draws ants and the next swarm. The comb has to come out, and that is the part we do.

Is the treatment safe for my kids and pets?

We ask who is at home before we treat, apply products according to the label, and tell you if anyone should keep away from an area for a while. You get a written record of what was used.

What should I do until you arrive?

Keep children and pets away, leave the bees alone, and do not spray or block the entrance. A disturbed colony is harder and slower to treat.

Do you do commercial bee control?

Yes. Schools, childcare centres, cafes, warehouses and strata common property. Tell us about the site on the call and we plan the job around it.
