Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, who ever sees it, and how you get it corrected or deleted.
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to Pest Hunter, a pest control business operating from Bulleen, Victoria, and to this website at pesthunter.com.au. In this policy we, us and our mean Pest Hunter.
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. If you would like anything in this policy explained, call us on 0478 012 301 or email info@pesthunter.com.au and a person will answer you.
What we collect
We only collect what we need in order to quote and carry out pest control work.
- Contact details. Your name, phone number and email address.
- Property details. The address or suburb of the property, the type of property, and details about the pest problem you describe to us.
- Household details you choose to tell us. Whether there are children, pets, chickens or anyone with an allergy or a chemical sensitivity at the property. We ask this because it changes how a treatment is planned. You do not have to tell us, and if you do not we will plan more conservatively.
- Job records. What was inspected, what was treated, which products were applied and at what rate, and what we recommended.
- Website information. Standard server logs and, where you consent, analytics data such as pages viewed and the general region a visit came from.
We do not collect payment card details through this website, and we do not ask for government identifiers such as a driver licence or a tax file number.
Health and sensitive information
If you tell us that somebody at the property has asthma, an allergy or a chemical sensitivity, that is sensitive information under the Privacy Act and it gets extra protection. We collect it only with your consent, we use it only to plan a treatment that is safe for that person, and we do not disclose it to anyone outside the technicians attending your job.
Why we collect it and what we do with it
To answer your enquiry and give you a quote. To schedule and carry out the work. To keep the treatment records the law and our insurers require. To contact you about a job in progress or a warranty return visit. To meet obligations under health, safety and pesticide regulations.
We will only send you marketing where you have asked for it or where it directly relates to a service you have used and you would reasonably expect it, which is what the Spam Act 2003 requires. Every marketing message carries a working unsubscribe, and unsubscribing never affects the service you receive.
Who ever sees it
Your information is not sold, rented or traded. Ever.
- Our technicians, so they can find your property and do the job.
- Service providers that run our systems, such as our website host, our email provider and our job management software. They are bound to use it only to provide that service to us.
- A body corporate, property manager or landlord, but only where they arranged the work or you have asked us to send them the invoice or the treatment record.
- A regulator or a court, where we are required by law to provide it.
We do not disclose personal information overseas in the ordinary course of business. Some of the software we use may store data on servers outside Australia, and where that is the case we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
How we protect it, and what happens if something goes wrong
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including access controls on our systems, encrypted connections on this website, and limiting access to staff who need it.
No system is completely secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.
We keep job records for as long as we are required to for insurance, warranty and regulatory reasons, and then destroy or de identify them.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking the necessary ones may stop parts of the site working properly.
